Personal Development for Entrepreneurs (Part 3 of 4)
As a new entrepreneur building your business online while still in your 9 to 5 job, it can feel a bit overwhelming. I know exactly how you feel.
I initially spent a lot of my time setting up my business and learning online marketing. These are all key aspects to getting your business launch set-up successfully. But I learned over time, there was a KEY ESSENTIAL component that I was missing that caused me to spin my wheels and get overwhelmed.
I learned that I had to work on myself as well as work on my business. Being in a 9 to 5 job for 14 years, I was conditioned to think like an employee and had to learn to think like an entrepreneur. I had to retrain my mindset…personal development training was my answer.
Personal development helps you overcome overwhelm and get your business launch done with success.
I’m sharing with you the 5 personal development tips that I used to help me break through the employee mindset and shift into an entrepreneur mindset:
Reading books will help you to think about things differently. They help you to step up your thinking. Being in a routine job for many years has an effect on your mind. I’ll be the first to admit..it make the brain lazy. You probably can do your job with your eyes closed:) It’s your time to wake up your brain so that you can get your business launched. It’s time to explore reading books.
Listen to Personal Development Audios.
For years I dreaded the rush-hour traffic, but then came a day when my car became my mobile university. I stopped looking at it as a lost of time but as learning time. I started to listen to personal development audio programs driving to and from work, such as Earl Nightingale, Brian Tracy, Tony Robbins, and Jack Canfield. Listening to personal development audio programs gets your mind engaged and pick up more than reading a book.
My.. my.. my…. the courses I’ve taken. I just wanted to learn all I could when I first started my online business-building journey. I’ve since learned you really only need to take courses to help you get to take the next right step for your business. You want to be smart about your investment so that you won’t be spending a lot of money for courses that never get started or completed
Get a Coach.
Getting the right coach will stretch you out of your comfort zone. I remember a coach that I had told me that “a coach needs a coach”, this was so eye-opening and really helped me shift. I was thinking I’m a business coach and why should I hire a coach..yep that was me. I now know better and have my very own personal success coach. You see…you can’t see the picture when it’s in the frame.
Hiring a business coach will open your eyes to things you haven’t even thought about, hold you accountable to get things done, boost your confidence and help you layout a profit plan.
5. Attend Events
There is nothing like getting around people that get you. Yep, building a business while still in your 9 to 5, can feel as though no one gets you. This is why it’s important to surround yourself with like-minded people. Attending events with other entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs will motivate you to keep pushing towards your goals. Also, you’ll learn more about your industry that will boost your confidence.
