Remember online markering is about connecting with your ideal clients and building a relationship with them. If you learn that your ideal client is a Twiiter user and spend a lot of their time there, this is an indication to start with this platform and master it and then move on to another one.
A Little About Twitter
Twitter is a short message (140) characters communication tool. You really need to be brief and to the point with your message. The messages you send out are called (tweets) and the people that subscribe to you are called (followers).
The tweet can be linked to any web content ( pdf report, blog post, website, video, etc). This is a great way to drive people back to your website to engage with you more and for them to see the products and service you have to offer.
Here are 4 steps to get you going with Twitter
Step 1. Showcase Yourself
What do you want to be known for? What value are you bringing to serve others. Showcase this in your Twitter profile. Let your ideal client know that you are there to connect with them and to be of service. Let your ideal client know your business story. How did your journey begin that led you to entrepreneurship. Don’t be shy engage.
Be consistent with your brand image. You want to have the same look and feel on your website and/or blog and your other social media platforms.
Step 2. Start Following People
When you are interested in what people are sharing, you want to start following them so that you can stay connected to their message. The types of people you may want to follow are :
- Your Ideal Client
- Your Competitors
- Professional Organization in Your Industry
Step 3. Build Relationships
The key is to be SOCIAL. This means listening more than selling. Take some time to understand what your ideal client problems are and then come up with a solution to solve them. First, have a two-way conversation by giving them some free advice. Most importantly, show up with a genuine heart to serve. Also, the following characteristics will be beneficial:
- Be You
- Balance Information with Promotion
- Give Free Advice
- Be Consistent
Step 4. Drive Traffic to Your Website and/or Blog
To get your ideal clients to learn more about you and what you have to offer for their problems, Twitter is great tool to drive them back to your website and/or blog. You can do this by including a shorten link of a blog post or video to your tweet that leads back to your website and/or blog.
